This weekend I spent a precious summer Saturday (sunny even!) at BarCampBlock in Palo Alto to see what all the fuss was about...a geekfest that bills itself as the unconference. Unconference meaning everyone shows up and gets their 30 minutes of demo time or discussion time, etc. etc. for free. The event is free to attend and to present at.
See a collective slide show (courtesy of Flickr) here.
It turned out to be a vibrant, exhausting day - learned a lot, met great people, hung out with people I knew. Where else would I have had the chance to brainstorm social media patterns with the Y! Design Patterns people. It was a great brainiac mashup.
Now what's cool is to discover that a similar event is scheduled to take place in mid October - but even more cool is that it's ONLY about DIGITAL VIDEO. You too can come! Details are here.
